Welcome
A playground of anonymity.
This is a gallery, not a product. You are free to work however you like — there is no limit to what you can make here. Digital one day, a photograph the next, a poem the day after. The pressures are removed on purpose. We want you to go further into your practice, or sideways out of it, rather than to perform for an algorithm.
Nobody will know it was you. That is the point, and the freedom.
What anonymity means here
Your name never appears. Not on the work, not in the metadata, not in the gallery. You are represented by a gradient — unique to your wallet, and nothing else. Collectors buy the work, not your following.
What is public: your wallet address, and everything the blockchain records — mints, sales, transfers. That is the nature of a public chain. If you want a clean separation from your named practice, use a fresh wallet that has never touched your public one.
Work you couldn’t sign
Anonymity is usually described as protection. It is also a licence, and this is the part worth saying plainly.
A named practice is a market position. A photographer who publishes drawings confuses the people who buy photographs; an illustrator who shows a photograph is read as an illustrator having a go. The cost of leaving your lane is not paid in the work — it is paid in the career. A body of work you spent years making legible becomes, for a while, harder to read. Almost everyone pays that cost by not leaving.
Here that cost is zero. There is no body of work to be inconsistent with, no audience to confuse, no line on a CV. Nobody can tell it was you, including the people who know your work well.
So: the piece you would never put your name to is the piece this place is for. If you photograph, draw. If you draw, pick up a camera. If you write code that makes images, make one by hand, once, badly, with no seed and no rerun. Work at the edge of your own competence, where you are not yet good — that edge is normally expensive to show, and here it costs nothing.
Or don’t. There is no assignment, and no one is marking. The season is long enough to spend entirely on what you already do well.
No contract
You are under no agreement. You may show one piece or twenty, and you may leave at any time without asking or explaining. Nothing here holds a claim on your work beyond displaying and selling what you list.
What you can make
Every work is a unique 1/1. There are no editions — one work, one owner, once. Beyond that the medium is open:
- image/png · up to 25MB — Stills. 2000–4000px on the long edge suits most screens.
- image/jpeg · up to 25MB — Stills. 2000–4000px on the long edge.
- image/webp · up to 25MB — Stills, smaller files than PNG.
- image/svg+xml · up to 5MB — Vector. Self-contained — no external references.
- image/gif · up to 50MB — Loops. Keep under ~10s so it loads well.
- video/mp4 · up to 100MB — H.264, 1080p or 4K. Under ~60s plays best in-gallery.
- video/webm · up to 100MB — VP9. Under ~60s.
- text/html · up to 10MB — Dynamic work. A single self-contained file — inline your CSS/JS; external requests will not load.
Dynamic HTML runs live in the gallery, so generative and interactive work is welcome. To upload one, choose your .html file in the studio exactly as you would an image — there is no separate step.
It has to be a single self-contained file: CSS in a <style> tag, JavaScript in a <script> tag, in the same document. Anything loaded from elsewhere — a CDN, a font, a separate script — will not resolve once the work is on IPFS. Add a cover image so marketplaces have a still to show.
Titles are optional
You already show without a name. You can go further and let a work arrive untitled and undescribed — nothing to read, nothing to lean on. A title is a hand on the shoulder; sometimes the work is stronger without one.
Whatever you do write travels with the work to OpenSea and every other marketplace, and it cannot be taken back. Say something, or say nothing. It is yours to decide.
How to mint
Once a director has admitted you, in your studio:
- 01 — Sign in with the wallet the director admitted.
- 02 — Upload the work. It goes to IPFS, so it lives independently of this site.
- 03 — Choose buy it now at a set price, or an auction with a reserve and a duration.
- 04 — Mint. You sign one transaction and pay a few cents of gas on Base.
The work is then yours on-chain and appears in the gallery — and on OpenSea, Rarible and the rest, since it is a standard token.
Money
You set the price. When a work sells, the payment splits on-chain in the same transaction: 4.2069% to the gallery, the rest straight to your wallet. No invoicing, no waiting, no one holding your money.
That fee is fixed in the contract with no function to change it. It has never been raised and cannot be. You can read the source yourself — the contract is verified on Basescan.
On an auction, bids are held by the contract. If you are outbid you withdraw your own funds; when it ends, anyone can settle it and the work goes to the highest bidder. A bid in the last ten minutes extends the auction, so a piece cannot be sniped.
Talking with the directors
Confer is where the season talks — share what you are making, ask for a reading, decide together what is worth minting. There is a cohort thread and one-to-one messages. Messages are encrypted at rest.
Nothing you share there is public, and sharing is not committing. A work only exists once you mint it.
Keeping yourself safe
Signing in only signs a message — it moves no funds and grants no spending permission. The only transactions you will ever be asked to approve are minting and listing your own work.
Nobody from the gallery will ever ask for your seed phrase or private key. If anyone does, it is not us.
Questions, or want out? directors@thisisanartgallery.com. Otherwise — go and make something.
